100 Days of Marvel: Road to Infinity War - Day 37: Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (Season 3, Episodes 1-5)

I must admit that I wasn't all that excited to start season 3 of Agents. Usually, unless the show is bust-a-gut funny, I abandon shows around the 3rd season. Seasons 1 and 2 of things are often good, and stories are usually succinct, at least enough to keep me interested. Few shows keep me past 2 or 3, and I am already a bit "Marvel Fatigued," a term I am calling this energy I have. But, all things considered, season 3 so far has peeked my interest in these first 5, so much so that I am really looking forward to seeing what happens.

I watched the first 3 episodes at work on a busy day, so I probably missed a lot there. At some point, I will re-watch it, or read summaries of it to fill in some of the cracks. Basically, I missed a lot about the inhumans searching and the development of this new organization that S.H.I.E.L.D. is not working with. Also, that goes against it because nothing from the show grabbed my attention.

I didn't know I wanted a love story for Coulson, that is until I see the way he looks at that government official. I hope she turns out to be good, and I hope it works out. If it doesn't, I would like to see him find love somehow. I know that kind of thing is difficult in their line of work, but a man can dream. Just like a man can dream about Skye/ Daisy and Mac, or (gulp) FitzSimmons.

On that note, episode 5 is in my top 3 favorite episodes so far. I love the introspective story of survival. I love Simmons as a character. So, this episode did something I needed at this point - it shook up the mold. Melinda is side questing, the team is doing stuff with Ward and Inhumans. Honestly, hard yawn. It hasn't really taken off for me to be more interested in that. But I am invested in this alien planet mystery. I do want to see how Will factors into the FitzSimmons equation. Honestly, I can't fault Simmons for her ...attraction... to him. They are all they have, and she had a moment of weakness. When Fitz tells her he is going to rescue Wil, I was happy for Simmons, sad for Fitz, and just feeling defeated overall. You guys, I must need FitzSimmon. I want them to win!

Okay, and I know that Skye's real name is Daisy, and Daisy is the comic's character name, but I have spent 2 whole duckin' seasons calling her Skye and I can't be bothered to switch energies like that just because she is now a better person. I know I will have to get used to it, but why not just say Skye is a code name, ya know, "Agent Sky," sounds much better than "Agent Dai..." I'm not even going to finish that sentence.

I am mildly amused at this werewolf-like inhuman hunter. I am starting to get invested in that plot, but for now nothing.

I am devastated  that we have lost another Black character in Melinda's ex husband. Let's pour one out for the legend.
