100 Days of Marvel: Road to Infinity War - Day 24: Marvel's "Black Panther" [No Spoilers]

Okay, it is 3:37 am when I am starting this [and 8am when I revised it]. I have officially missed a day from my 100 day series. However, I still have not gone to sleep so I am counting it as a yesterday post [of course, I posted and went to sleep. So revisions are counted in the new day].

I was going to do a Heroic Analysis of T'Challa tonight, but I want to do that with more energy, after I have seen the film a second time. Instead, I am just going to give you my initial reactions to go along with my video review of the film. I'll do the Heroic Analysis tomorrow ...tonight ... tomorrow.

Black Panther is the GOAT. It seriously is that good. I must admit, I have some different takeaways as a Black man that allow this movie to easily dethrone Guardians of the Galaxy 2 and Thor for me, but I acknowledge that those two movies, along with Civil War, will remain many a fan favorite. This movie is filled with Black excellence, and it felt great watch this film in a theater with an enthusiastic crowd.

This movie is more so a fantasy political drama than a super hero movie. Black Panther never really fights crime in the traditional sense, however he does fight for his people as their king. But that only makes it more fantasy - he is the king of a very fantastical world. This world has a mysterious substance that the outside world doesn't know much about (vibranium). It is a hidden land (Wakanda). It has armored rhinos. It has sword fights, and it even has magic.

Every character is dope. Later, when I do my full heroic analysis with spoilers, I will talk more in-depth about each one, but just some 4am thumb thoughts: Killmonger is the greatest Marvel villain on screen in the MCU so far. The Dora Milaje is AMAZING. If for no other reason you see this film, see it for the Dora Milaje.

I heard online that folks thought that it needed more action, but I actually think it has a perfect amount of  that in the film. Anymore, for me, may have taken me out of it. Every moment from every focal character is earned, and there are some pretty good firings of Chockov's guns. One of the things that I am MOST interested in discussing is speculation over what might happen in Infinity War.

The story and dialogue are tightly written, and that leads to a consistent tension throughout the whole film. The film never rushes itself, or the viewer.

Ya'll this movie is amazing! I cannot wait to see this again and post a full spoiler review and Heroic Analysis.

The reason this post is as late as it is is because I have been filming and editing my verbal review of the movie to accompany my Heroic Analysis. It is rendering now, but if you keep reading and there is a link below this graph, than you know the video is live. Be careful, though, the video contains spoilers.
